To comply with current planning policy and the Building Regulations, any development proposal on or near land affected by gas emissions must be supported by a risk assessment submitted to the local planning authority by the developer (or his consultant). The assessment must include proposals for remediation strategies and show how risks will be reduced to an acceptable level by preventative measures. In addition, stakeholders in the development need to manage other risks, such as health and safety of construction staff, gas pollution liabilities or other financial risks and expert design advice is a cornerstone of the risk management and mitigation process.
EPG has a proven track record in the delivery of design solutions for the successful management of ground gas on complex sites, combining technical expertise with an understanding of the association practical constraints, legislative requirements and commercial demands.
Working as specialists within the overall design team our early involvement in the project evaluation facilitates our aim of providing successful and technically robust remediation design that incorporates both traditional and cutting edge proven technologies so ensuring that the preferred solution is appropriate, safe and cost effective. Moreover, we regularly review the potential to incorporate sustainable remediation techniques that reduce the overall carbon footprint and environmental impact associated with the solution.
Our engineers are specialists in ground gas assessment and the design of gas mitigation measures, with significant experience in designing for all types of development including residential, educational, commercial and industrial facilities.
